Herbal Medics is pleased to be a designated member of the Botanical Sanctuary Network by United Plant Savers.
Our shared mission is to protect native medicinal plants of the United States and Canada and their native habitat, while ensuring an abundant renewable supply of medicinal plants for generations to come. Herbal Medics strives to reach that goal by planting and tending medicinals for use in education and for communities in need.
Due to unethical or illegal harvesting practices, as well as an increasing loss of habitat, many important native medicinal plants are at risk of being lost forever. As part of our non-profit, Herbal Medics is developing a botanical sanctuary dedicated to preserving these rare, at-risk, or endangered plants. Our goal is to provide a place that is protected where these plants can grow and thrive. The Herbal Medics botanical sanctuary will help raise community awareness of native endangered and at-risk plants, as well as botanical medicine.
Research into the medicinal uses of plants is an ongoing effort for Herbal Medics. A lot of knowledge regarding the use of plants as medicine has been lost or is in danger of being lost. We strive to preserve this information and make it available to the world. We offer education to the public in the use of medicinal plants in caring for yourself and your family.
Would you like to support this project?
We are currently researching which plants will best fit our local bioregion. We are seeking donations of soil, gardening equipment, a tractor (for one day), and plants/seeds that are able to grow in the Central South Texas or Texas hill country area. We have the unique advantage to be along a line that has climate for both Mediterranean plants (such as olives, dates and lavender) as well as south Texas native plants. Contact us if you are interested in donating any of the above items or joining us to help plant and care for these important herbs. Become a part of preserving this natural heritage!
All donation amounts are welcomed and are tax deductible. Herbal Medics is recognized as a nonprofit 501(c)(3)organization by the IRS. A receipt will follow your donation for your tax records.
